Philippine Stock Exchange Expands Public Assistance Hotline
Date 29/11/1999
With the fast growing volume of public use to the recently created Public Information and Assistance Center (PIAC), the Exchange has installed more hotlines to ensure quick response to public inquiries. The PIAC manages public inquiries, complaints, and dissemination of market related information materials.
On a daily basis, the center receives about 150 walk-ins and about 230 phone inquiries. Most phone calls are inquiries about the basics of stock investing and a growing number of these calls come from outside Metro Manila.
"We are happy to see a growing public use of the center as this indicates that we have successfully created a friendly bridge between the Exchange and the investing public," said the VP for Business Development, Jose Fernando Alcantara. He further explains that the center is in the forefront of making the Exchange accessible to the wider public. "It is a part of our duty to constantly provide an open and transparent market," Alcantara said.
The added hotlines for public use are +63 2 637-8818, and +63 2 637 8813. Mr. Alcantara explained that the next step of the Exchange is the installation of an interactive call center combined with a dedicated website for public inquiries. "We really need to de-mystify the market and the best way is to develop better medium of information dissemination nationwide," Alcantara noted.
