Philadelphia Stock Exchange To Reopen

The Philadelphia Stock Exchange will resume equities and stock options trading on Monday, Sept. 17 at 9:30 a.m.

Task forces from the PHLX and the American Stock Exchange has prepared the options trading floor of the PHLX as a backup location for AMEX specialists and market makers to conduct options trading. At least 200 to 300 AMEX traders are expected to do business from Philadelphia starting Monday. Registration and mini-orientation programs for the AMEX traders began on Sunday at 4:00 p.m. and will continue until 7:00 p.m. Sunday evening. The registration sessions will resume at 7:00 a.m. on Monday morning.

AMEX option traders will conduct trading under PHLX trading rules and will use PHLX trading systems that have the ability to handle the increased trading volume.

The PHLX will hold a special bell-ringing ceremony at 9:29 a.m. to observe a moment of silence to honor and remember the victims of the World Trade Center disaster and their families and friends.
