Philadelphia Stock Exchange to Begin Trading Five New Options

The Philadelphia Stock Exchange (PHLX) announced today that it will begin trading put and call options on Alcatel SA -ADR (option /stock symbol: ALA); Bear Stearns Companies Inc.; (option/stock symbol BSC), Sybase Inc.; (option/stock symbol: SBQ/SYBS); Valence Technology Inc. (option/stock symbol VHQ/VLNC) and Vishay Intertechnology Inc. (option/stock symbol VSH) upon the opening of business on Friday, December 1, 2000.

The PHLX trades more than 2,300 stocks, nearly 800 equity options, 11 sectors index options and 100 currency pairs. Founded in 1790, the PHLX is the nation's first securities exchange.
