The PHLX traded 900,173 equity and index options on Wednesday, a 5 % increase over the previous one-day volume record of 853,803 contracts that was set on Jan. 19, 2001.
The PHLX also set new monthly trading volume records for equity and sectors index options during March 2001. The PHLX traded a record high 9,707,576 equity options, a 78% increase over the same year ago period of 5,450,551. Volume in the PHLX's ten sectors index options hit an all time monthly high of 523,594 contracts traded in March 2001.
