Philadelphia Stock Exchange (PHLX) Appoints New Director Of Public Relations

The Philadelphia Stock Exchange, Inc., (PHLX) recently appointed Barbara Evans Sorid as director of public relations. In her new position, Sorid will serve as the organization's spokesperson and assume responsibility for the development, management and execution of public relations and media projects.

Sorid, a former correspondent for the Philadelphia Inquirer, previously served for eight years as director of public relations for Mount Holly, N.J.-based Memorial Health Alliance. When Memorial partnered with Marlton, N.J.-based West Jersey Health System in 1998, Sorid served as both director and assistant vice president of corporate communications for the newly created Virtua Health.

A resident of Voorhees, N.J., Sorid earned a bachelor's degree in speech pathology and audiology from Queens College in Flushing, N.Y., and did graduate work in that field at Emory University in Atlanta, Ga. She also attended Temple University Graduate School of Journalism in Philadelphia, Pa.
