Equity options trading volume for the month of October reached 12,250,207 contracts, up 32.63% compared to the same month last year when 9,236,355 contracts traded. Volume increased 21.16% compared to the previous month when 10,110,772 contracts traded. PHLX market share in equity options grew to 13.85%, an increase from the previous month. Equity volume for October reached 328,270,606 shares traded, up 28.50% compared to the same period last year when 255,467,656 shares traded. Volume increased 18.39% compared to the previous month when 277,272,126 shares traded.
Sectors index options trading volume in October increased 42.32% when 317,044 contracts traded compared to the same month last year when 222,771 contracts traded. Sector index option volume increased 1.10% when compared to the previous month when 313,607 contracts traded.

Trading volume in October in the customized and standardized currency options totaled 27,283 contracts, a 53.22% increase from the previous month when 17,806 contracts traded, and a 6.05 % decrease from the same month last year when 29,040 contracts traded.
