Persimmon PLC Replaces P&O - Peninsular And Oriental Steam Navigation Company In The S&P European Indices

Standard & Poor’s will make the following changes in the S&P Europe 350 and S&P United Kingdom indices, effective after the close of trading on Thursday 2nd March 2006:
  • Persimmon PLC (United Kingdom, SEDOL: 0682538, GICS: Consumer Discretionary, GICS Code: 25201030) will replace Peninsular & Orient Steam Nav (United Kingdom, SEDOL: 0680048) in the S&P Europe 350 and S&P United Kingdom indices. Peninsular & Orient Steam Nav is being removed following the offer by DP World. Whilst the acquisition remains contingent upon court approval, it has been decided it best to remove the company from the indices at this time.
Persimmon PLC is the UK’s largest house builder. The number of shares outstanding is 294,505,000 and the Investable Weight Factor will be 1. The company will be added to the S&P Europe 350 GICS (Global Industry Classification Standard) Homebuilding sub-industry.
