PEGAS Trading Volumes In November 2015 - PEGAS Reaches New Monthly Volume Records In November

PEGAS, the pan-European gas trading platform operated by Powernext, announced that a total volume of 129.3 TWhwas traded in November 2015 which represents its highest traded volume to date (previous record: 108.8 TWh in October 2015). This corresponds nearly a doubling of the volumes compared to last year (November 2014: 55.4 TWh).

Spot Markets

Overall spot trading volumes in November totalled 45.7 TWh, accounting for a growth of 61 % compared to November 2014. The Dutch TTF market posted a monthly record volume of 14.4 TWh (previous record: 12.5 TWh in April 2015), up 90 % compared to the previous year. The German GASPOOL and NCG areas registered a volume of 20.0 TWh in November, including 6.6 TWh traded in quality-specific gas products. The volume in the French PEG Nord and TRS market areas totalled 10.7 TWh. The Belgian ZTP area registered a record month with 642,637 MWh (previous record: 592,999 MWh in October 2015). The new locational products launched on 17 November in Germany and France reached 4,650 MWh in two weeks of trading. The total volume of 3.2 TWh in spread transactions was registered in November.

Derivatives Markets

PEGAS derivatives traded volume rose to a monthly record with 83.5 TWh(previous record: 68.1 TWh in October 2015), which represents more than 3 times the volume traded in November 2014. The Dutch TTF futures market contributed 67.8 TWh to the derivatives volume in November, hence registering a monthly high on this specific hub (previous record: 51.3 TWh in October 2015). The volume traded in the German GASPOOL and NCG market areas amounted to 10.6 TWh. Trading volumes in the French PEG Nord and TRS market areas reached 3.8 TWh. The PSV physical and financial contracts totalled 1.3 TWh. The volume registered for clearing via trade registration amounted to 2.4 TWh while the total volume of spread transactions reached 3.8 TWh in November.
