PEGAS, the pan-European gas trading platform operated by Powernext, registered a total volume of 130.4 TWh in June 2018 (June 2017: 167.7 TWh). The overall spot volume increased by 25% over the previous year, following the upward trend on most PEGAS spot market areas.
Spot Markets
Spot trading volumes in June amounted to 74.9 TWh , up 25% over the previous year (59.6 TWh). The Dutch TTF market area reached 27.2 TWh, an increase of 75% (June 2017: 15.5 TWh). The German delivery zones NCG and Gaspool amounted to 22.9 TWh which represented an improvement of over 25% compared to the previous period (June 2017: 18.3 TWh). Trading of quality-specific contracts reached 4.0 TWh. The French PEG Nord and TRS traded a volume of 12.2 TWh, down 5% (June 2017: 12.8 TWh). CEGH VTP volume reached 5.5 TWh (June 2017: 6.6 TWh). The Belgian markets ZTP and ZEE volumes amounted to 4.6 TWh, an increase of 3% (June 2017: 4.5 TWh). The Danish market ETF registered 1.7 TWh which represented an improvement of 24% over June 2017 (June 2017: 1.4 TWh). Finally, the Czech market area CZ VTP traded 201 GWh.
Geographical spread transactions reached 5.3 TWh, while the German and French locational and hourly products totalled 502 GWh.
Derivatives Markets
In June, PEGAS derivatives volumes amounted to 55.5 TWh , including 42.7 TWh on PEGAS’ TTF futures market (June 2017: 95.1 TWh). In Germany, the NCG and GASPOOL delivery areas traded 4.3 TWh (June 2017: 7.3 TWh). With 4.9 TWh, the CEGH VTP hub established a new monthly record (previous record: 4.8 TWh in April 2018). In France, the PEG Nord and TRS market areas reached 1.5 TWh (June 2017: 2.2 TWh). The Italian PSV hubs tripled the previous year’s volume with 1.4 TWh (June 2017: 454 GWh). Trading on the CZ VTP hub amounted to 144 GWh.
The volume of geographical spread transactions accounted for 2.1 TWh and time spread transactions amounted to 1.6 TWh.
