PEGAS, the pan-European gas trading platform of EEX Group operated by Powernext, doubled the volume of futures contracts traded on the platform in June 2019 (vs. June 2018). In total, 111.3 TWh of futures products were traded (June 2018: 55.5 TWh), mostly on the TTF hub which registered 92.2 TWh on its own (June 2018: 42.7 TWh).
With a 44% increase, the spot segment also experienced a very strong growth and reported 108.1 TWh in June 2019 (June 2018: 74.9 TWh) thanks to the good performance of most of the hubs.
This month was also marked by the launch of the Spanish PVB to PEGAS portfolio on 18 June, offering both spot and futures contracts. At the end of the month, 228.7 GWh were traded on the new hub.
Spot Markets
In June, the spot segment amounted to 108.1 TWh. With 51.3 TWh, Dutch TTF market registered a 88.9% increase compared to the previous year (June 2018: 27.2 TWh). The German delivery zones NCG and Gaspool registered a volume of 30.6 TWh, a raise of more than 30% compared to the previous year (June 2018: 22.9 TWh). Trading of quality-specific contracts reached 3.3 TWh. Launched on 18 June, the Spanish PVB reported 0,2 GWh on its spot segment. In France, the PEG reported 9.5 TWh (June 2018: 12.2 TWh). The Austrian CEGH VTP reached 7.2 TWh (June 2018: 5.5 TWh). The Belgian markets ZTP and ZEE volumes amounted to 7.5 TWh, which represented a growth of more than 60% over last year (4.6 TWh).The Danish market ETF registered 1.3 TWh (June 2018: 1.7 TWh).
Geographical spread transactions reached 7.4 TWh, while the German and French locational and hourly products reported 37.1 GWh.
Derivatives Markets
In June, derivatives trading amounted to 111.3 TWh, a two-fold increase compared to previous year (June 2018: 55.5 TWh). The TTF market reached 92.2 TWh, which represents a 115% increase compared to last year (June 2018: 42.7 TWh). The NCG and GASPOOL delivery areas traded 9.6 TWh (June 2018: 4.3 TWh). CEGH VTP registered 5.6 TWh (June 2018: 4.9 TWh). 114.2 GWh were trading on the Spanish PVB in June.The PEG market area reached 881.5 GWh (June 2018: 1.5 TWh). The Italian PSV hub traded 2.8 TWh (June 2018: 1.4 TWh). The CZ VTP traded 159.0 GWh (June 2018: 143.6 GWh).
The volume of geographical spread transactions accounted for 7.4 TWh and time spread transactions amounted to 4.6 TWh.
