Paris Bourse Trading activity at record high again in July

July was the second best month ever in the history of the Paris Bourse with daily volumes averaging EUR 2.886 billion compared to EUR 2.941 billion in June which was a record month.
The July figure is 39.42% higher than the daily average of EUR 2.07 billion for 1998 as a whole and 33.61% than July 1998. Over the 21 business days of the month, trades in French equities represented a total of EUR 60,62 billion. The peak of the month was July 29 with EUR 3.891 billion and the low EUR 2.138 billion on July 16.
The total for the first seven months of 1999 was 384.11 billion or 27.6% more than the EUR 301.04 billion traded over the same period of 1998.
The number of trades in French equities rose 3.2% from a daily average of 218,636 in June to 225,629 setting the total for the month at 4,738,220 (table 1). The busiest day was July 8 with 277,576 trades and the least busy July 28 with 161,154.
Over the first seven months there were 31.05 million trades, 22.48% more than the 25.35 million totaled in the same period last year.
July was a busy month on the primary market with Crédit Lyonnais listing on the Premier Marché and six companies listing on the Second Marché : Delta Plus Group, Buffalo Grill, Videlec, the swiss company Téléverbier, Faros and Aubay Technologie.
At July 31, total capitalization of French equities on the Premier and Second Marchés reached EUR 988 billion.
