The daily average in June stood at EUR 98.52 million, up 6% on May and 46% higher than in June 1999.
Nouveau Marché: 1st-half trading surges more than ten-fold
On the Nouveau Marché, trading in the six months to June 30 was up ten-fold on the corresponding period of 1999 at EUR 12.41 billion compared with EUR 1.22 billion. The number of trades was twelve times higher at 4,514,000 compared with 357,728 in the first half of 1999. In June, the daily average reached EUR 56.95 million compared with EUR 52.16 million in May, a rise of 9.2%.
The peak came on June 21, with trades totaling EUR 122 million, while the slowest day was June 1 with EUR 16 million. Daily trades averaged 19,782 transactions. June 5 was the busiest day, with 29,612, and June 1 the slowest with 9,190.
Second Marché: a vigorous rise
On the Second Marché, trade volumes in the first half of the year jumped 67% to EUR 7.92 billion compared with EUR 4.75 bn in the first half of 1999. The number of trades soared 102% to 2,134,000, up from 1,057,000. Average trading volume in June stood at EUR 41.57 million compared with EUR 40.35 million the previous month.
The busiest day was June 8 with EUR 73 million, and the slowest was June 1 with EUR 16 million. Daily transactions averaged 9,430 compared with 11,863 in May. The high came on June 5 with 11,788 trades, and the lowest point was June 1 with 4,246.
Fourteen companies were listed in June, raising a total EUR 424 million. They included twelve on the Nouveau Marché (BCI Navigation, Hi Media, Gameloft.com, Medcost, Highwave Optical Technologies, Optims, Dalet, Cyberdeck, IB Group.com, Business Interactif, KaZIBAo and Siticom Group) and two on the Second Marché (Camaïeu and Altedia).
Altogether 46 midcaps have made their debut on the Nouveau and Second Marchés since the beginning of 2000. At June 30, 503 companies were listed on the two markets, among them 12 foreign companies. They included 364 for the Second Marché and 139 for the Nouveau Marché, representing a total capitalization of EUR 82 billion.
