Pacific Exchange Names Alden Adkins To Senior Post

The Pacific Exchange (PCX) announced today that Alden Adkins will become Senior Vice President, Regulatory Policy and Equities Surveillance, effective March 31, 2003.

Adkins, 50, is currently Associate Director, Division of Market Regulation, at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. His career in the securities industry began as an SEC attorney in 1982. He was counsel to the SEC's Chairman, David Ruder, from 1987-89, and chief of the Commission's Office of Automation and International markets from 1989-92. He also spent nine years with the NASD and NASD Regulation, where he was responsible for strategic planning, regulatory and market structure policy, and internal audit. Adkins returned to the SEC in 2002.

"We are very pleased that Alden is joining our organization," said PCX Chairman and CEO Philip D. DeFeo. "He's a high-caliber individual with a wealth of experience in securities markets. His primary responsibilities will be to lead the team that's responsible for regulating the Archipelago Exchange and direct the policy group that writes our rules."

Adkins holds a Juris Doctorate from American University and a BA from Johns Hopkins University.
