Pacific Exchange Launches Interim Linkage - Three Issues Eligible On August 10

Date 10/08/2001

The Pacific Exchange (PCX) announced yesterday that it will launch a pilot program for the interim options market linkage at the opening of trading on Friday, August 10, 2001.

The Chicago Board Options Exchange and Interactive Brokers will participate in the pilot.

Options on Cintas will initially be eligible through the linkage system. Catherine Clay of Timber Hill LLC is the Lead Market Maker. Automated execution guarantees have been set at 10 contracts.

The interim linkage is designed to help traders at the options exchanges ensure that customer orders are executed at the best prices available, even where those prices are quoted on another exchange. It utilizes existing systems to facilitate the sending and receiving of order flow between specialists and market makers on competing options exchanges.
