Over 1,5 Million Securities Accounts On Polish Capital Market

Date 14/06/2011

For the first time the number of securities accounts operated by KDPW Participants reached 1,5 million. Banks and brokerage houses in Poland operated 1,500,609 accounts at the end of May. The number of securities accounts has increased by more than 23 thousand in year 2011.

In May, the number of securities accounts grew by more than 9 thousand. Slightly larger than in previous months this year, the growth of new brokerage accounts was a result of an IPO of polish bank BGZ, privatized by the Ministry of Treasury.

“Privatization projects are always very attractive to investors. Last year privatizations of such companies like PZU, Tauron or Warsaw Stock Exchange added more than 300 thousand securities accounts. Such IPOs strengthen the international position of the Polish capital market” said KDPW CEO Iwona Sroka about these figures.
