Oslo Børs To Export Market Surveillance

Oslo Børs has signed a letter of intent that will create greater opportunities to make commercial use of the extensive expertise that Oslo Børs has developed in market surveillance. The letter of intent has been signed with SIA, the Italian ICT provider for the financial community, and gives SIA exclusive rights to sell the Oslo Børs market surveillance product known as obSurveX across a large part of southern Europe.

Oslo Børs has an agreement with Computershare Technology Services Ltd. that entitles it to offer SMARTS as a service for European exchanges and supervision authorities.

obSurveX is a product developed by Oslo Børs for the sale of market surveillance services to other exchanges, and is based on an enhanced version of SMARTS. The obSurveX concept comprises a combination of the supply/operation of this system together with the supply of expertise in market surveillance and specialised surveillance services.

The agreement signed with the Italian company SIA confers an exclusive right to distribute obSurveX in the majority of markets across southern Europe. Oslo Børs will also provide assistance to purchasers of obSurveX to ensure the rapid implementation of the surveillance system, and this will represent significant savings of both time and cost. In addition new users will be able to implement surveillance activities at an advanced level with access to specialised resources rather than relying on a standard product.
