Oslo Børs Lists An Equity Fund (ETF) For The First Time

Date 02/03/2005

Oslo Børs is to list the equity fund DnB NOR OBX from Friday 4 March 2005. This will be the first stock exchange traded fund to be listed on Oslo Børs, and represents yet another exciting investment alternative for investors in the Norwegian market. This type of fund, known as an Exchange Traded Funds (ETF), is a popular product also for the Retail market on many international stock exchanges.

By listing this new fund, DnB NOR Kapitalforvaltning ASA is the first issuer to elect an Oslo Børs listing for an ETF. This type of fund is well established on many international exchanges and is popular with investors.

An ETF is traded on a stock exchange and gives investors the opportunity to buy fund units that are directly linked to an index just as easily as buying a listed share. Investing in an ETF gives investors access to stock market returns while reducing risk by spreading their investment over an index of shares.

“We are very pleased to offer another exciting investment alternative for investors on Oslo Børs, and we believe that exchange traded funds will soon be an established and popular product in the Norwegian market just as they are internationally”, comments Sven Arild Andersen, President and CEO of Oslo Børs.

On Friday 4 March, DnB NOR Kapitalforvaltning in cooperation with Oslo Børs, will hold a presentation prior to the start of trading and provide more detailed information on exchange traded funds. The presentation will start at 09.15, and will be open to the press and any other interested parties. Øyvind Birkeland from DnB NOR will be present, and also mark the listing of DnB NOR OBX by opening the day’s trading on Oslo Børs.
