Oslo Børs: Liquidity Categories And Information Symbols In Use From Today

Date 04/10/2004

Starting today, companies listed on Oslo Børs will be categorised on the basis of liquidity in their shares. This new approach to presenting companies can already be seen on the Oslo Børs web site and elsewhere, and a number of Norwegian newspapers will start to use the categories tomorrow. At the same time stock exchange tables now use the Information Symbol and the English Symbol to identify companies that satisfy specific requirements for the content and distribution of information in Norwegian and English.

Oslo Børs is very pleased to note that 51 listed companies already satisfy the requirements for the Information Symbol or for the Information Symbol combined with the English symbol for information in Norwegian and English respectively.

"Liquidity categories and the introduction of the information symbols are further examples of our commitment to creating the right environment for greater investor interest in the Oslo market. We are confident that this focus on information delivery and liquidity by both Oslo Børs and other market players will make an important contribution to further increasing the competitiveness of the Norwegian securities market", comments Sven Arild Andersen, President and CEO of Oslo Børs.

In addition to the companies that already satisfy the requirements for one or both of the new symbols, many companies are still working on the arrangements needed to qualify for the symbols. Oslo Børs therefore expects that many more companies will qualify for one or both of the symbols in the near future. Experience to date suggests that most companies that apply for approval seek to satisfy the information requirements in both Norwegian and English. More information on liquidity categories and the introduction of information symbols can be found on the Oslo Børs web site at: http://www.oslobors.no/ob/listestruktur?languageID=1
