Building on Hong Kong’s Unique Role
The Nation’s 15th Five-Year Plan has, for the first time, set the goal of building China into a financial powerhouse. Hong Kong’s role has also evolved from "integrating into national development” to “integrating into and serving national development”.
This not only reflects the Central Government’s expectations on Hong Kong, but also affirms the city’s unique functions and irreplaceable role as an international financial centre.
The Chief Executive’s newly announced first Five-Year Plan for Hong Kong and 2026 Policy Address have further set out a clear and forward-looking roadmap to guide Hong Kong’s future development, identifying the financial services sector as a core strength and an important engine of growth.
