Open Interest In CME E-mini S&P 500, E-mini Nasdaq 100 Set Records

Open interest in E-mini S&P 500 and E-mini Nasdaq 100 Index futures traded on Chicago Mercantile Exchange Inc. (CME) rose to new highs after the close of trading yesterday, Nov. 13, to 73,819 and 56,824 positions, respectively.

The records top previous high marks set on Nov. 10 for both contracts. On that date, open interest in E-mini S&P 500 futures reached 68,247 while E-mini Nasdaq 100 futures open interest totaled 52,966. Open interest is the number of futures or options contracts outstanding at the close of trading and can indicate a market’s liquidity as well as longer-term positions in a marketplace.
