OneChicago Surpasses One Million In Open Interest

Date 26/07/2005

OneChicago, LLC today reported 1,017,617 in security futures open interest at the Exchange, surpassing the one million-mark for the first time. Open interest is the total number of contracts that have not yet been offset or taken to delivery.

OneChicago President Marty Doyle said, “We have established 11 open interest records in July, seven of them on consecutive trading days. Our open interest growth goes hand-in-hand with our volume gains as we continue to educate the marketplace as to the various uses of security futures.”

Each single stock futures contract is equivalent to 100 shares of the underlying stock or exchange-traded fund. OneChicago has the equivalent of more than 100,000,000 shares in open interest.

The Exchange lists 185 futures on single stocks, including futures on the DIAMONDS® Trust, as well as the first of the OneChicago Select Indexes, a new series of customer-designed narrow-based security index futures launched earlier this month.
