OneChicago Reports September 2004 Volume

OneChicago, LLC today announced that 296,737 security futures contracts traded at the Exchange in September, which is 20% higher than September 2003 volume and is the third highest volume month at OneChicago. Year-to-date volume is 1,469,735 contracts, 30% greater than 2003 volume through September. Open interest stood at 143,061 contracts as of September 30.

Each single stock futures contract is equivalent to 100 shares of the underlying stock or exchange-traded fund.

The top five security futures products by volume in September were:

  • SBC Communications Inc. (SBC1C)
  • Schering-Plough Corp. (SGP1C)
  • Eastman Kodak (EK1C)
  • Verizon Communications Inc. (VZ1C)
  • General Electric Co. (GE1C)
The Exchange has a total of 133 products: 118 single stock futures, including futures on the DIAMONDS Trust, and 15 futures on the Dow Jones MicroSector IndexesSM.
