OneChicago Reports Record Volume In March

OneChicago, LLC yesterday announced that 375,463 security futures contracts traded at the Exchange in March, a 372% increase over March 2003 volume and a monthly volume record for the Exchange. Open interest reached a record 297,282 in March. Each single stock future contract is equivalent to 100 shares of the underlying stock or exchange-traded fund.

Average daily volume in March was 16,324 contracts, also a record.

The top five security futures products by volume in March were:

  • Bristol-Myers Squibb Co. (BMY1C)
  • Nokia Corp. ADR (NOK1C)
  • McDonald's Corp. (MCD1C)
  • Hewlett-Packard Co. (HPQ1C)
  • Exxon Mobil Corp. (XOM1C)
The Exchange has a total of 109 products: 94 single stock futures, including futures on the DIAMONDS Trust, and 15 futures on the Dow Jones MicroSector IndexesSM.
