OneChicago Reports Record Volume In July - July ADV 44,425 Highest Ever

OneChicago, LLC today reported that 888,499 security futures contracts traded at the Exchange in July, an all-time monthly volume record. July also included a single-day trading volume record of 464,574 contracts on July 25. Average daily volume of 44,425 is also a new record.

July volume surpasses the previous monthly volume record set July 2005 by 3%. Year-to-date volume is up 34%. Open interest stood at 1,414,602 contracts July 31.

Marty Doyle, President of OneChicago, said, “We are pleased with our steady volume growth. As we add more security futures listings we anticipate that volume will continue to increase and look forward to expanding our customer base even further.”

Each single stock futures contract is equivalent to 100 shares of the underlying stock or exchange-traded fund. The top five single stock futures contracts by volume in July were:
  • General Electric (GE1C)
  • Citigroup Inc. (C1C)
  • Exxon Mobil Corp. (XOM1C)
  • AT&T Corp. (T1C)
  • Hewlett-Packard Co. (HPQ1C)

The Exchange lists 215 futures on single stocks, futures on the DIAMONDS® Trust, as well as five OneChicago Select Indexes, a series of customer-designed narrow-based security index futures. OneChicago rules permit block and EFP trading and a substantial percentage of the Exchange’s volume results from such trades.
