OneChicago, LLC today announced that 69,880 security futures contracts traded at the Exchange in August. Year-to-date volume is 1,172,998 contracts, 33% greater than 2003 volume January through August. Open interest stood at 135,620 contracts August 31.

The Exchange listed 16 new single stock futures in August, including futures on Chicago Mercantile Holdings Inc. (CME1C), which traded 200 DEC04 contracts August 23, and Google Inc. (GOOG1C), which traded a total of 252 contracts August 27, their respective first days of trading on OneChicago.

Each single stock futures contract is equivalent to 100 shares of the underlying stock or exchange-traded fund.

The top five security futures products by volume in August were:

  • Dupont (E.I. Du Pont de Nemours) (DD1C)
  • PepsiCo Inc. (PEP1C)
  • General Motors Corp. (GE1C)
  • Eastman Kodak (EK1C)
  • Eli Lilly and Co. (LLY1C)
The Exchange has a total of 134 products: 119 single stock futures, including futures on the DIAMONDS Trust, and 15 futures on the Dow Jones MicroSector IndexesSM.
