OneChicago Reports 53% Increase For October 2004 Volume

OneChicago, LLC today announced that 111,341 security futures contracts traded at the Exchange in October, which is 53% higher than October 2003 volume. Year-to-date volume is 1,581,076 contracts, 31% greater than 2003 volume through October. Open interest stood at 202,145 contracts as of October 29.

Each single stock futures contract is equivalent to 100 shares of the underlying stock or exchange-traded fund.

The top five security futures products by volume in October were:

  • McDonald’s Corp. (MCD1C)
  • American International Group (AIG1C)
  • International Business Machines Corp. (IBM1C)
  • ChevronTexaco Corp. (CVX1C)
  • News Corporation Ltd. (NWS1C)
The Exchange has a total of 136 products: 121 single stock futures, including futures on the DIAMONDS Trust, and 15 futures on the Dow Jones MicroSector IndexesSM.
