Normal trading hours for OneChicago are 9:15 am - 4:00 pm Eastern Time. Futures contracts on 85 individual stocks plus the DIAMONDS ETF (DIA) are currently offered for trading during these hours. In unusual circumstances, OneChicago may halt trading or extend trading hours as follows:
- In the event of a regulatory halt in the trading on an underlying security, OneChicago will halt trading in single stock futures contracts based on that security. For futures on narrow-based indices (once they are launched), OneChicago will halt trading if securities representing 50% or more of the market value of an index are halted.
- In the case of a non-regulatory halt in trading on an underlying security (e.g. an order routing problem at the underlying exchange), OneChicago will determine on a case-by-case basis in coordination with regulators and the underlying markets whether or not futures contracts on that security will be halted.
- Should an extraordinary event occur that creates a significant disruption in the U.S. capital markets, OneChicago will work closely with regulators and the underlying markets to determine the appropriate actions to take in response. Such actions could include trading halts, expanded trading hours, the addition of new security futures contracts, or other actions deemed necessary to protect the integrity of the marketplace.
- OneChicago's operations center is directly connected to the operations centers of the NYSE, Nasdaq, CBOE, CME, CBOT and other national markets via special communications lines to facilitate cooperative decision-making and coordinated responses.
