On January 16th, 2006, FORTS Guarantee Fund Reached 285 Million Rubles

As of January 16th, 2005, after the minimum deposit of market participants to the Guarantee Fund of "RTS Clearing Center" was increased to 2 million rubles per each market participant, the total value of the Fund amounted to 165 million rubles.

The increase of the size of the deposit into the Guarantee fund and the increase at the end of last year of the Reserve fund from 90 to 120 million rubles have allowed RTS Clearing Center to enlarge its Guarantee fund to over 285 million rubles. In November 2005 the size of the fund equaled 175 million rubles.

The Guarantee fund is one the most important parts of the risk management system on FORTS, the derivatives segment of the RTS Group. The size of the fund significantly influences the ability of market participants to execute trades at market prices even if volatility on the underlying asset market increases. The Guarantee fund is created to ensure that clearing participants can fulfill their obligations and cover their debts if necessary.
