NZX is pleased to announce that New Zealand Futures and Options brokerage firm OM Financial Limited has been accredited as an NZX Advising Firm.
"NZX Advising Firms are a vital conduit that help enable New Zealand investors access investment opportunities on the NZX. OMF has a unique combination of onshore and offshore experience across a broad spectrum of financial products that will be a valuable addition to New Zealand's capital markets," said NZX CEO Tim Bennett.
“In the past we had been able to advise clients on offshore equity markets, but having this accreditation allows OMF to provide the same advice on our home bourse,” said OMF Director of Financial Markets, Greg Boland. He said Cash Equities will complement the expected launch of NZX Equity Derivatives in 2013.
OMF Managing Director Brian Watt said “A number of our clients are looking closely at these investment opportunities; now, as well as advising them on foreign exchange, commodity futures and other derivatives, global equity and equity options markets, carbon and electricity, we can also advise them on how best to include local equities in their portfolios.”
OMF was formed in 1987 as Ord Westpac Futures NZ Limited and after a serveral name changes due to JP Morgan acquiring and then exiting the retail business become OM Financial Limited. OMF is now owned by management and a group of investors.
OMF, who have offices in Auckland and Wellington, have been an Authorised Futures Dealer since 1988 and NZX accredited for futures and derivatives since 2004.
