Record in no of trades in share trading
October saw a record in number of trades for the share trading at the Nordic Exchange. On October 14, the number of trades amounted to 423,167 (previous record: 422,474 trades on January 22, 2008).
Record figures in number of trades were also recorded for the month, reaching 303,881 trades per day (previous record: 267,511 trades per day in January, 2008). On October 2008 the average number of trades is up 50% compared to October 2007.
Share Trading in October
The value of average daily share trading amounted to EUR 3.7 billion, as compared to EUR 4.0 billion during the past 12-month period. The average number of trades per business day amounted to 303,881, as compared to 219,633 during the past 12-month period. The total market cap of listed companies at OMX Nordic Exchange amounted to EUR 482 billion, compared to EUR 1,009 billion in October 2007.

The average daily trading volume in share products was 261,080 contracts, as compared to 317,289 contracts during the past 12 month period. The average daily trading volume in index products were 273,755 contracts, compared to 247,336 contracts during the past 12-month period. Fixed-income derivatives traded 88,352 contracts, compared to 110,075 contracts during the past 12-month period.
