The Options Clearing Corporation (OCC) has reported a 12.3% year-over-year (YoY) increase in cleared futures and options, totaling 1.2 billion contracts in July.
Equity options saw significant growth, with volumes rising 20.6% YoY to 713.2 million contracts. Index options also experienced notable gains, climbing 8.4% YoY to 100.2 million contracts. Meanwhile, ETF options volumes inched up by 1.9% YoY, reaching 420.2 million contracts for the month.
However, futures contracts saw a sharp decline, dropping 33.4% YoY to 3.9 million. Despite this, the overall growth in options activity highlights the continued strength of the market.
