OCC Announces Joseph Corcoran As New Head Of Government Relations

Date 03/04/2012

OCC announced today that Joseph Corcoran has joined OCC as First Vice President and Head of Government Relations. Mr. Corcoran comes to OCC from NYSE Euronext where he served as Chief Counsel in NYSE Regulation and the Office of Legal and Government Affairs.

In his role at NYSE Euronext, Mr. Corcoran represented the exchange group’s various self-regulatory organizations before the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), with a focus on the options exchanges. Prior to NYSE Euronext, he was counsel for Schiff Hardin LLP, representing exchanges, broker-dealers and other market participants on securities law and market regulation matters. Mr. Corcoran also previously served at the SEC as a Special Counsel in the Division of Market Regulation.

“We are very pleased to welcome Joe to OCC,” said Wayne P. Luthringshausen, OCC Chairman and CEO. “Joe is intimately familiar with OCC-cleared products, along with extensive knowledge and expertise in the legislative and the regulatory process. That’s a winning combination that will serve OCC and the options industry well in Washington.”

As Head of Government Relations, Mr. Corcoran will lead OCC’s government affairs function, including managing OCC and U.S. Securities Markets Coalition legislative and regulatory priorities.

Mr. Corcoran received his B.A from the College of William and Mary and his J.D. from Tulane Law School.
