Environmental markets infrastructure provider TZ1 has been selected as the VCS (Voluntary Carbon Standard) registry provider for Offsetters, based in Vancouver Canada.
Offsetters, recognized as Canada’s leading supplier of high quality carbon offsets, is the first Canadian company to register with an active VCS registry.
Offsetters offer third party verified projects that allow individuals and organisations to make genuine and permanent carbon emission reductions. All projects created by Offsetters that are approved under the VCS are issued with Voluntary Carbon Units (VCU's) which will be held in the TZ1 Registry.
Morgan McDonald, Offsetters Director of Sourcing, said, "TZ1 Registry makes buying and selling of credits fully secure and transparent to the public. TZ1 had the only offering that met the rigorous standards we had set for a VCS Registry Partner. Offsetters is delighted to be able to offer this level of security and transparency and provide a full end-to-end service for our clients including VCU issuance, holding balances, ownership transfer and retirement when required.”
The voluntary carbon market is the highest growth sector of the carbon market globally and VCS is recognized as the global leader of voluntary carbon standards.
Helen Robinson, Chief Executive, TZ1 Registry, said, “Canada has the opportunity to play a significant role in the reduction of carbon emissions. Offsetters is not just a thought leader but is also helping companies take action. TZ1 is honored to be chosen to play such a significant role in bringing quality carbon assets to the world, and to build the Offsetters value proposition.” TZ1 Registry will today list Offsetters’ existing projects as well as future projects that meet the Voluntary Carbon Standard. These will be available to view online at: www.tz1market.com.
