There has been a significant increase in the trading of instalment warrants in 2006, with over 7,000 trades year to date. The 708 trades for the month of November represent a 35% increase on the same period last year. The total value and volume traded have also increased significantly in 2006.

There is now a broader range of market participants trading and new products have been launched based on this demand. Both ABN AMRO Equity Derivatives New Zealand Limited and UBS Securities New Zealand Limited have both listed new warrants in 2006.

Director of warrant sales at ABN AMRO, Aaron Milne said, “Increased trading usage amongst brokers has definitely been evident in the past year with warrants trading now more evenly spread across the firms.”

There are now 37 instalment warrants listed on the NZSX by ABN AMRO and UBS.

The NZDX Market has had an impressive run throughout 2006, continuing in November with three new debt listings from NZ Finance Holdings Limited, PINs Securities NZ Limited and Nufarm Finance (NZ) Limited.

With over 27,500 trades, $1.65 billion value traded and the highest amount of capital raised on record in 2006, the NZDX has been the star performer this year.

For the year to date, the total capital raised on NZX's markets across debt and equity totals $3.94 billion.
