NZX's operating metrics for June 2004 are as follows:
Total market capitalisation was $60,007m compared with $50,004m for the same month in the previous year, an increase of 20%. Total market capitalisation for the previous month (May 2004) was $57,809m, an increase of 3.8%.
Total nominal value of the NZDX Market was $5,902m compared with $4,915m for the same month in the previous year, an increase of 20.08%. Total nominal value of NZDX for the previous month (May 2004) was $6,011m, a decrease of 1.81%.
NZSX 50 Index value was 2,696 comparedme with 2,213 for the same month in the previous year, an increase of 21.83%. NZSX 50 Index value for the previous month (May 2004) was 2,596, an increase of 3.85%.
Number of trades on the NZSX Market was 45,912 compared with 49,052 for the same month in the previous year, a decrease of 6.4%. The 12 month average is 47,627. The number of trades on the NZSX Market in the quarter to June 2004 decreased 2.27% to 141,711 on the same quarter in 2003.
Number of trades on the NZAX Market was 1,031, compared with 604 in the previous month (May 2004). This is an increase of 71%. The number of trades on the NZAX Market in the quarter to June was 1,969.
Number of trades on the NZDX Market was 1,936 compared with 1,807 for the same month in the previous year, an increase of 7.14%. The 12 month average is 2,376. The number of trades on the NZDX Market in the quarter to June 2004 rose 21.26% to 6,730 on the same quarter in 2003.
Value traded on the NZSX Market (including rights) was $2,128m compared with $1,721m in the same month in the previous year, an increase of 23.65%. The 12 month average is $1,899m. The value traded on the NZSX in the quarter to June 2004 rose 21.48% to $6,277 on the same quarter in 2003.
Value traded on the NZAX Market was $6.07m, compared with 3.6m in the previous month (May 2004). This is an increase of 68.61%. The value traded on the NZAX for the quarter to June was $11.19m.
Value traded in NZDX securities was $77m compared with $140m in the same month last year, a decrease of 45%. The 12 month average is $159m. The value of NZDX securities traded in the quarter to June 2004 decreased 11.99% to $367m on the same quarter in 2003.
The number of New Zealand Listed Issuers rose from 153 in June 2003 to 178 in May 2004, an increase of 16.34%. The number of Overseas Listed Issuers fell from 65 to 58 over the same period. There were three new listings in June 2004 and 15 for the year to date.
The number of ordinary shares quoted on the NZSX Market increased to 190 in June 2004, up two on the same month in the previous year. There have been 11 additions for the year to date and eight removals. The number of convertible notes was nine in June 2004, up from seven in June 2003.
The number of bonds quoted on the NZDX rose from 14 in June 2003 to 21 in June 2004, an increase of 50%. The number of capital notes was 35 in June 2004, up one from June 2003.
The number of full NZX Firms remained unchanged at 16 from the previous month. The number of Indirect NZX Firms remained unchanged on 10 from the previous month. The number of Non Trading NZX Firms also remained unchanged on 8 from the previous month.
The number of NZX Advisors decreased to 276 from 279 in the previous month. However, the number of NZX Associate Advisors increased to 182 in June 2004 compared with 177 in May 2004.
The number of NZX Sponsors remained unchanged on 40 from the previous month.
The number of Data Vendors remained unchanged on 14.
