NZX has today released the NZX Operating Metrics for July 2008. NZX releases the Operating Metrics on the first Tuesday of every month.
Highlights - July 2008
- Real time Data terminals were up 13% on the same period last year at 10,929 terminals.
- Average Daily trades were up 1% at 2,367. Total trades were up 6% at 54,432.
- Number of trades on the NZDX was up 7% in the month at 3,093. Value traded on the NZDX in July was $180 million, a 38% increase on the same period last year.
- There was $445 million capital raised in July, a breakdown of $225 million of equity and $220 million of debt.
- There has been $1.903 billion of debt raised year to date, a 54% increase on the same period last year.
- MARAC Financeʼs secured bond issue closed oversubscribed, raising $104 million. TCNZ Finance Limited raised $104 million in July, following the opening of their continuous Telebonds issue, which closes in December.
- Auckland based KVB Kunlun were accredited as an NZX Advising Firm at the end of July.
Trading
- Total number of trades was 54,432, a 6% increase on the same period last year.
- Total value traded in July 2008 was $2.81 billion, a 17% decrease on the same period last year.
- Average daily value traded was $122 million, a 21% decrease on the same period last year.
- Total number of trades for the NZSX was 50,950 for July 2008, a 6% increase on the same period last year. Total value traded on the NZSX was $2.62 billion for July 2008, a 20% decrease on the same period last year.
- Total number of trades for the NZAX was 389 for July 2008. Total value traded on the NZAX was $2 million.
- Total number of trades for the NZDX was 3,093 for July 2008. Total value traded on the NZDX was $180 million.
Capital Raised
- Total capital raised in July 2008 was $445 million.
- New equity raised in July 2008 was $225 million and new debt raised was $220 million.
Other
- Number of NZX Market Data terminals has increased 13% to 10,929 compared with 9,703 in July last year.
- Smartshares funds under management (FUM) is $695 million across its six ETFs, a 21% increase on the same period last year. Smartshares has a total of 14,242 unit holders.
