NZX has today released the NZX Operating Metrics for August 2008. NZX releases the Operating Metrics on the first Tuesday of every month.
Highlights - August 2008
- Number of trades on the NZDX was up 18% in the month at 3,410. Value traded on the NZDX in August was $166 million, a 43% increase on the same period last year.
- There has been $1.94 billion of debt raised year to date, a 57% increase on the same period last year.
- Real time Data terminals were up 8% on the same period last year at 10,539 terminals.
- There was $144.7 million capital raised in August, a breakdown of $107.3 million of equity and $37.4 million of debt.
- Smartshares Funds Under management have increased by 24% on the same period last year to $708.4 million.
Trading
- Total number of trades for the NZDX was 3,410 for August 2008, an increase of 18% over the same period last year. Total value traded on the NZDX was $166 million, an increase of 43% on August 2007.
- Average daily trades were down 11% on August 2007. Total number of trades was 48,724, a 19% decrease on the same period last year. Total value traded in August 2008 was $2.56 billion, a 22% decrease on the same period last year. Average daily value traded was $122 million.
- Total number of trades for the NZAX was 245 for August 2008 . Total value traded on the NZAX was $1 million.
Capital Raised
- Total capital raised in August 2008 was $144.7 million.
- New equity raised in August 2008 was $107.3 million and new debt raised was $37.4 million
Other
- Smartshares funds under management (FUM) is $708.4 million, a 24% increase on the same period last year.
- Number of NZX Market Data terminals has increased 8% to 10,539 compared with 9,798 in August last year.
- The total number of instalment warrants trades in August 2008 was 625, a 52% decrease on the same period last year. Total value traded for instalment warrants for August 2008 was $3 million.
