NZX and a number of its Participant firms have joined forces to raise funds for the Christchurch earthquake relief effort.
To date, the NZX and NZX Participant firm effort has seen more than $1.5 million contributed or pledged. That figure is expected to climb as more NZX Participant firms join the pledge.
Firms who have pledged, or made, contributions so far are Craigs Investment Partners, Deutsche Bank, Direct Broking, First NZ Capital, Forsyth Barr, Goldman Sachs, JBWere, KVB Kunlun,
Macquarie Securities, Somerset Smith, UBS and NZX.
“NZX, and many of our Participant firms and listed companies, are based or have teams in Christchurch. Their focus is on their families, friends and homes. This is one way we, and our Participant firms, can contribute as a team to help not only our own staff but their communities as well,” said NZX CEO Mark Weldon.
“NZX Participant firms are a part of the Christchurch community, and we are looking to support that community in both monetary and non-monetary ways. We are very pleased to come together as an industry to do what we can,” said Securities Industry Association Chair Frank Aldridge.
First NZ Capital CEO Scott St John said, “NZX Participant firms with Christchurch offices have all got their business recovery plans in place and are working hard to provide a service to their clients.
They are all back in operation, albeit from different locations around Christchurch.”
NZX and NZX Participant firms encourage other businesses and associations to contribute to the greatest extent possible.
