Lt. General Ronald S. Coleman, Director, Personnel Management Division, United States Marine Corps, will join NYSE Group, Inc. (NYSE: NYX) Chief Executive Officer John A. Thain, NYSE Members and employees in observing two-minutes of silence on Friday, Nov. 10, 11am (EST.) in commemoration of Veterans Day.  The observance will be followed by a cake cutting ceremony on the trading floor to celebrate the 231st birthday celebration of the U.S. Marine Corps.

“The entire New York Stock Exchange community takes great pride in commemorating Veterans Day and acknowledging the generations of men and women who have answered the call to duty in the name of freedom and our great nation,” Mr. Thain said.  “We are especially privileged to have Lt. General Coleman lead this year’s moment of silence as we honor America ’s veterans.  On behalf of everyone at the Exchange, I extend my wholehearted thanks to Lt. General Coleman and all those who have served, and those who currently serve, in our Armed Forces.”

An Exchange tradition since 1918, this year’s event is the 88th annual commemoration of Veterans Day at the NYSE.  The Veterans Day two-minutes of silence marks the Exchange’s only scheduled halt to trading during the year.  Beginning in 1954, the Exchange has honored our nation’s veterans with the observation of two minutes of silence, during which a single bell halts and single bell restarts trading.
