NYSE Ready for "Decimal Monday," Jan. 29, 2001

Date 27/01/2001

On "Decimal Monday", January 29, 2001, the NYSE will complete the conversion to decimal pricing on its more than 3,500 listed securities. The Exchange has been decimal ready since April 2000 and began phasing in the move to decimals – pricing stocks in dollars and cents instead of in fractions – last August via a pilot program. As of today, 159 NYSE-listed issues trade in decimals.

The past five months have demonstrated that the NYSE systems, floor community and member firms can seamlessly handle trading in decimals. The efficient performance of the pilot and ongoing systems testing points to a smooth transition.

The NYSE is also completing the initiative more than two months ahead of the SEC-mandated April 9 deadline.
