NYSE Liffe, the European derivatives business of NYSE Euronext (NYX), today announced that it will be launching 30 Year Ultra Long Gilt Futures, in response to customer demand. The new contracts will be available from 25th November 2013.
30 Year Ultra Long Gilt Futures will complement NYSE Liffe’s existing range of benchmark Gilt Futures contracts, and provide additional opportunities for effectively managing exposure to longer dated UK debt. The contracts will be available via NYSE Liffe’s Central Order Book, and on the Exchange’s wholesale trade administration service, Bclear.
Finbarr Hutcheson, CEO of NYSE Liffe, said: “As international interest in UK debt has continued to grow, we have seen strong volume growth in our 10 Year Long Gilt Futures. This, combined with the long maturity profile of much UK debt, has led to market demand for 30 Year Ultra Long Gilt Futures.”
For market participants, the contracts will provide an efficient and effective means of taking positions related to the 30 year point of the UK sovereign curve. Margin offsets will also be offered. In particular, offsets of up to 65% available between 30 Year Ultra Long Gilt Futures and the existing benchmark 10 Year Long Gilt futures, will lead to considerable capital efficiencies for customers.
