NYSE Group Welcomes Approval To Open Office In China

Currently, there are 31 companies with a total global market capitalization of $833 billion from greater China listed on the NYSE (as of Dec. 15, 2006 ). In 2006 to date, the NYSE listed two Chinese companies as the latest high-growth entrepreneurial Chinese companies to be listed on the NYSE: New Oriental Education and Technology Group (NYSE: EDU) and Mindray Medical International Ltd (NYSE: MR) - both ranked in the top-10 best-performing IPOs in third-quarter 2006. In 2005, the NYSE listed Suntech Power holdings Ltd (NYSE: STP). In 1993, Sinopec Shanghai Petrochemical Company, Ltd. (NYSE: SHI) was the first company from China to list on the NYSE.

The NYSE is currently home to 448 non-U.S. companies with a total market capitalization of $9.4 trillion representing 47 countries.
