NYSE Foundation Donates $1 Million To Aid Hurricane Katrina Relief Efforts - Foundation To Also Match Member And Employee Donations

The New York Stock Exchange Foundation, the private philanthropic foundation of the NYSE, today announced a $1 million donation to the American Red Cross toward relief efforts in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. Additionally, the NYSE Foundation will match individual donations made to the American Red Cross by Exchange members and employees.

“The needs in Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama are enormous,” said John A. Thain, CEO, New York Stock Exchange. “The NYSE is pleased to contribute to the recovery efforts and to the people in the affected areas.”

“The people of the Gulf Coast have a long and slow recovery ahead," said American Red Cross Chairman Bonnie McElveen-Hunter, who rang today’s Closing Bell™. "Thanks to the generous help of supporters like the New York Stock Exchange, the Red Cross will be able to get help to those who need it, for as long as it’s needed.”
