NYSE Euronext is pleased to announce that Lyxor Asset Management today has listed two new Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) on Euronext Amsterdam, the AEX Leverage and the AEX Short. Both ETFs are based on an index which is created, calculated and published by NYSE Euronext and has been designed specifically as an underlying for ETFs.
The Lyxor ETF Leverage AEX is based on the AEX Leverage index. This ETF effectively doubles the movements of the AEX index. Therefore, this is an ideal ETF for investors who want to take full advantage of a positive performance of the AEX index.
The AEX Short index, the underlying for the Lyxor ETF Short AEX, aims to replicate a short position on the AEX Total Return index. The ETF offers a positive performance when the AEX index is down and a negative performance when the AEX index is up.
Lyxor Asset Management has chosen these underlying indices as they are an excellent addition to the current range of their Exchange Traded Funds.
The ETF segment continues to grow and is increasingly successful on all the European and US NYSE Euronext markets. A daily average turnover of €384 million was traded in these products on the Euronext markets in 2008, an increase of 23% compared with the daily average in 2007 of €313 million.
Joost van der Does de Willebois, Chairman of Euronext Amsterdam and Member of NYSE Euronext Management Committee, said “We are pleased that Lyxor Asset Management introduced these innovative products, based on our highly successful AEX index”.
Sjef Pieters, Head of Business Development Benelux at Lyxor Asset Management said: “We are very pleased to offer these new ETFs. As a global leader in ETF management we look forward to expanding our activities into the Dutch market. We are certain that these innovative investment tools will benefit many different investors. Particularly in the current and future market environment where investors are looking for transparency, simplicity and low cost solutions.”
Henk van Rooijen, CEO of Société Générale Netherlands added: “We have been active in the Dutch corporate and institutional market for over 30 years with 180 local staff mainly focusing on Corporate & Investment Banking and Specialized Financial Services. These listings are a great opportunity to further enhance our visibility in our offering of equity derivatives and other asset management solutions and we will continue to fully support Lyxor Asset Management.”
