NYSE Commemorates Veterans Day - The Exchange To Honor Veterans With Two Minutes Of Silence

On Monday, Nov. 11, the New York Stock Exchange will be observing Veterans Day with a special opening bell ceremony. General Peter Pace, Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff will ring the Opening Bell in commemoration of Veterans Day. The Albany, Georgia U.S. Marine Corps Band will perform patriotic tunes from the NYSE's Members' Gallery, and there will be a Color Guard team below the bell podium.

The program will conclude as the Exchange offers two minutes of silence (11am - 11: 02 a.m.) in honor of America's Veterans and those brave men and women of our Armed Forces who are fighting the war on terrorism.

General Pace is the Nation's second highest-ranking military officer. He is the sixth officer to hold the position and the first Marine.

As the Vice Chairman, General Pace serves at the Chairman of the Joint Requirements Oversight Council, Vice Chairman of the Defense Acquisition Board, and as a member of the National Security Council Deputies Committee and the Nuclear Weapons Council. In addition, he acts for the Chairman in all aspects of the planning, programming and budgeting system to include participating in meetings of the Defense Resources Board.
