NYSE Celebrates Jan. 20 Inauguration Of President-Elect Barack Obama - Local School Children, Downtown Alliance , And National Park Service To Ring Opening Bell - Inauguration Broadcast Live For Public Viewing On Jumbotron In Front Of The Exchange - Bibl

The New York Stock Exchange will celebrate the Inauguration of President-Elect Barack Obama, when he is sworn in as the 44th president of the United States . To honor this historic occasion, the NYSE will ring The Opening BellSM from the steps of Federal Hall National Memorial -- the location of the first Inauguration -- with local school children, joined by representatives from the Downtown Alliance and the National Park Service.

Elizabeth Berger, president of the Downtown Alliance and Maria Burks, National Park Service Commissioner of the National Parks of New York, will be available for interviews and explain the significance of this event at Federal Hall, the site of George Washington’s Inauguration.

Additionally, the Bible used by George Washington on his Inauguration as first President of the United States on April 20, 1789 is being made available as a backdrop to this historic opening bell.

The Inauguration in Washington , D.C. , will be broadcast live via satellite on a “Jumbotron” screen on Broad Street outside in front of the Exchange, beginning at 11:30 a.m. EST. During the Inauguration, special commemorative snacks will be provided to NYSE employees and trading floor professionals by Planters, a leading brand of Kraft Foods (NYSE: KFT), and Honest Tea.
