Mr. Bennett, 51, will manage the NYSE's Research Division. He will support the Exchange's business lines and Office of the Chairman by developing and supporting research into the structure of equity markets, supervising analysis within the Exchange related to its various business and public-policy activities, participating in and hosting conferences and supporting Exchange-related research. Mr. Bennett also will be responsible for the NYSE's ongoing interaction with the academic community. He will report to James L. Cochrane, senior vice president, Strategy and Planning.
Mr. Bennett has been with the Federal Reserve Bank of New York since 1978, most recently as senior vice president, Capital Markets Research. From 1994-1999, he was senior vice president, Research Group. From 1984-1993, he held various officer positions, including vice president, Fedwire Funds and vice president, Financial Research. He holds a PhD in economics from Princeton University and an AB in economics from the University of Chicago.
