Ambassador Tutwiler has been U.S. Undersecretary of State for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs since December 2003, and will remain in that position through June 30. She served as U.S. Ambassador to Morocco from July 2001 to August 2003. Ambassador Tutwiler has also been an Assistant to the President (2001, 1992-3), Assistant Secretary of State for Public Affairs (1989-92), Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for Public Affairs (1985-89), and Assistant to the White House Chief of Staff (1981-85). From 1995 to 2000, she worked in the private sector, first as president of a public relations firm, then as Senior Vice President for Public Affairs at the Cellular Telecommunications Industry Association.
Ambassador Tutwiler is a graduate of the University of Alabama.
