Mr. Blocker, 34, will serve as the primary liaison to House and Senate members on NYSE issues. He will advise NYSE senior management on the impact of public policy and issues under review, assist in strategic and tactical planning, and play a role in discussions with government representatives.
He will report to Richard L. Ribbentrop, senior vice president, Government Relations.
Mr. Blocker has been with American Airlines since 1997. In his role as managing director, Government/International Affairs, he was responsible for developing strategy and representing American Airlines at bilateral aviation negotiation sessions with non-U.S. governments as well as lobbying the White House, Congress and government agencies on international issues.
Prior to American Airlines, Mr. Blocker served as special assistant for Legislative Affairs to President Clinton from 1995-1997. In this role, Mr. Blocker provided policy-making and strategic legislative advice to the President and served as one of the liaisons between the White House and the Congress. From 1994-1995, Mr. Blocker served as a budget analyst for the Senate Budget Committee, preparing policy and fiscal analyses.
Mr. Blocker has an MBA from Georgetown University and a BA from Harvard University.
