NYSE Appoints Amy S. Butte Executive Vice President - To Succeed CFO Keith R. Helsby Upon His Retirement

The New York Stock Exchange Board of Directors today appointed Amy S. Butte as executive vice president, effective immediately. Ms. Butte will succeed Keith R. Helsby as chief financial officer upon his retirement in April.

Ms. Butte, 36, most recently was chief strategist and chief financial officer with Credit Suisse First Boston’s financial-services division. Prior to that, she had been a senior managing director in Equity Research at Bear Stearns & Co., Inc.

“The Exchange is fortunate to have a person of Amy Butte’s caliber. Amy is well-known in the financial-services industry for her financial acumen, analytical insight and comprehensive knowledge of the business,” said NYSE Chief Executive Officer John A. Thain.

“I’m thrilled with the opportunity to join John Reed, John Thain and the NYSE team, working for the world’s leading equities marketplace,” said Ms. Butte. “I look forward to applying my previous experience and interest in financial technology, market structure and financial analysis to make a positive contribution to the work of the Exchange.”

The NYSE’s CFO is responsible for the financial operations of the NYSE including the Controller’s Department, Treasurer’s Department, and Financial Planning and Analysis. The CFO oversees the annual operating and capital budgets, the performance against those budgets, and coordinates the NYSE’s revenue structure.

About Ms. Butte

At CSFB, Ms. Butte helped lead the development of the firm's global asset-gathering division and the sale of the firm's correspondent clearing business, Pershing, to the Bank of New York. Prior to that, she was a highly acclaimed equity research analyst at Bear Stearns, responsible for coverage of the brokerage, asset-gathering and financial-technology industries.

She started her equity research career at Merrill Lynch. She has also worked at Bridge Trading Co., Inc.; Merrin Financial; and Andersen Consulting.

Ms. Butte has an MBA from Harvard University Graduate School of Business Administration and a bachelor's in Political Science and Psychology from Yale University. She serves on the Corporate Advisory Board of the New York City Ballet, and is an active member with the New York Women's Foundation.
